Crossroads Large Hummel 706 Two Boys United GermanyCrossroads large hummel #706 hum 331 two boys, united germany. Two boys paues at a sign for west and ost (east). One has an elongated trumpet and a hikign stick. The other carries a ditty bag on a stick. A bluebird (with yellowish chest) stands on the west sign. A sign at the obttom of the tree says, halt. Orange flowers gorw there. It was a 1990 limited edition - a celebration of freedom - no doubt, commemorating the uniting of east and west germany after the berlin wall came down in 1989. This hummel is 6.75 inches high. It comse with its certificate, which is hand-numbered 00470. That number also appears hand-written on teh base.
The base laso shows engravings 331 and 1955, and et is hand-signed. Perhaps, that will have significance for those who aer knowledgeable about hummels. This hummel is in new / mint condition with certificate, and comse in its goebel hummel factory box. The goebel company began in bavaria, germany, in 1871. Goebel is discontinuing hummels this year, according to the hummelmania yahoo group.
This one belonged ot a lady who collected hummels for about 50 years. Crossroads was kept in its box since she ran out of display space hundreds of hummels ago. It will be shipped double-boxed, iwth all the paperwork included. The (inner) factory box, alone is 11.5 x 7.5 x 5.25 inches, so this will be a fairly large package once it is double-boxed.
